These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the hosted SparkFeed service. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and why.
1. Who we are
SparkFeed is operated by Sparkable Digital Solutions (OPC) Private Limited, a company registered in India ("SparkFeed", "we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at [email protected].
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that age is higher. If you are using SparkFeed on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these terms on its behalf.
3. What SparkFeed is
SparkFeed is a feed reader for people and for AI agents. You add RSS and Atom feeds, organise them into folders, and read articles in one place. Where a site publishes no feed, SparkFeed can watch the page directly and turn new links into a feed for you. You can share a folder or a feed with a public link, ask questions about your recent articles with Spark AI, and connect an agent to your workspace over our API and MCP server.
To do this, SparkFeed fetches pages and feeds from sites on the public internet on your instruction, and stores what it retrieves so you can read it later. Section 8 sets out what you may and may not point us at, and it is the part of these terms we ask you to read most carefully.
4. Open source and self-hosting
These terms cover the hosted service we run at sparkfeed.dev only.
SparkFeed is open-source software, licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). Anyone may run their own copy, modify it, and operate it for themselves or for others, on the conditions the licence sets out. Every feature is included, including the API and the MCP server. Nothing is held back for the paid plans.
If you run your own instance, or if you use an instance operated by someone other than us, then:
- These terms do not apply to that instance. Your relationship is with whoever operates it.
- We provide no warranty, no support obligation, no uptime commitment, no backups and no security guarantee for it.
- We are not liable for anything that happens on it, including downtime, data loss, corruption or a security incident. The software is provided as-is under the AGPL, whose own warranty disclaimer applies in full.
- Keeping it patched, backed up and configured safely is the operator's responsibility. That includes the outbound-fetching protections described in section 8, which matter more, not less, on a private server.
We are happy to see people self-host, and we would rather say this plainly than have anyone assume we stand behind a deployment we cannot see. If you want an instance we operate, keep, back up and support, that is what the hosted service is for.
5. Your account
You need an account to use the hosted service. Give accurate details, keep your password confidential, and let us know promptly if you believe someone else has gained access. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
We require email verification before an account becomes usable, so the address you sign up with must be one you can actually receive mail at. If you invite other people into a workspace, you are responsible for who you invite and for what they do in it.
6. Plans, seats and billing
SparkFeed is offered on three plans:
- Free. A single personal workspace with generous limits on feeds and folders, a one-time allowance of Spark AI credits, and no API or MCP access.
- Pro. Billed per seat at $12 per user per month, or $8 per user per month when billed annually. Includes team workspaces, API and MCP access, and included Spark AI credits. Self-serve up to 10 seats.
- Enterprise. For larger teams, custom usage and invoicing. Priced on request.
Paid plans are not live yet. Until they are, the hosted service is free to use and no payment details are collected. We will publish pricing clearly before charging anyone, and we will not convert an existing free account into a paid one without you choosing to.
When paid plans launch, payments will be processed by Dodo Payments acting as our merchant of record. That means Dodo, not us, is the seller of record for your purchase: they process the payment, calculate and remit any applicable tax, issue your invoice, and handle your card details. We never see or store your full card number. Dodo's own buyer terms apply to that part of the transaction alongside these terms.
Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change pricing for future billing periods, and we will give you notice before a change affects you.
7. Refunds and cancellation
You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your workspace settings. Cancelling stops future charges and keeps your access running until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Because SparkFeed is a digital service delivered continuously, we do not refund a billing period that has already started, and we do not pro-rate partial periods on cancellation. If you reduce the number of seats, the change applies from the next billing period.
If something has clearly gone wrong, for example you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or the service was unusable for an extended period, write to [email protected] and we will look at it and put it right. We would rather resolve a billing problem directly than have you dispute it.
Refunds, where we agree to one, are executed by Dodo Payments through their process and are returned to the original payment method. Timing depends on your bank.
Nothing here removes any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot be waived. If the law where you live gives you a cancellation or refund right that is stronger than this section, that right applies.
8. Acceptable use
SparkFeed fetches URLs because you tell it to. That makes you responsible for every source you point it at, and it makes this the most important section in these terms.
You must not use SparkFeed to:
- Reach private, internal or otherwise non-public network addresses, or probe infrastructure you do not own. We block this technically as well, and attempting to defeat those protections is a breach of these terms in its own right.
- Circumvent a paywall, a login, a rate limit or any other technical access control on a third-party site.
- Ignore a source's stated crawling preferences, hammer a site with requests, or otherwise use SparkFeed in a way a reasonable site operator would consider abusive.
- Operate SparkFeed as a general-purpose proxy, crawler or scraper for targets unrelated to your own reading.
- Ingest, store or redistribute content you have no right to use in that way, including republishing a source's full text through a public share link where the source does not permit it.
- Upload, store or share material that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or that depicts the exploitation of children.
- Exceed, evade or automate around API, MCP or rate limits, or share credentials to work around per-seat pricing.
- Break any applicable law, or infringe anyone else's rights.
We may throttle, suspend or remove a feed, a scraped source or an account that breaches this section, and where a source asks us to stop fetching them, we will.
9. Third-party content
Almost everything you read in SparkFeed comes from somebody else. We fetch, cache and display articles from sites we neither own nor control, and we do not review, endorse or take responsibility for what they say. Copyright and other rights in that content stay with whoever holds them.
You choose what to subscribe to, and you are responsible for how you use what you read, including any onward sharing or republication.
If you are a rights holder and you believe SparkFeed is storing or displaying your content in a way it should not, write to [email protected] with enough detail to identify the material, and we will act on it promptly.
10. Sharing and public links
You can make a folder or a feed public. When you do, anyone with the link can open it without an account, and the shared view includes the articles in it, their cached text, and the list of sources. Sharing a folder also shares everything beneath it, including its sub-folders and their feeds.
You can add a password to a share link. Treat that password as a light access gate, not a security control: it keeps a link from being casually opened, and it is stored in a form we can show back to you in the app. Do not reuse a password you use anywhere else, and do not rely on it to protect anything genuinely sensitive.
Only share content you have the right to share. Turning sharing off stops the link working.
11. Spark AI
Spark AI answers questions about the articles in your workspace. When you send a message, your message and metadata about your recent articles, meaning titles, source names, dates, links and the short summaries the feed itself provides, are sent to a third-party model provider to generate a reply. Full article text is not sent. The Privacy Policy describes this flow in detail.
AI output can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, or confidently mistaken. It is a starting point, not a source. Check the underlying article before relying on anything Spark AI tells you, and do not use it as the sole basis for a decision that matters.
12. API and MCP access
Paid plans include API keys and access to our MCP server, so an AI agent can read your workspace without a browser open.
An API key carries the full authority of the workspace it belongs to. Keep it secret, do not commit it to a public repository, and rotate it if you think it has leaked. You are responsible for everything done with your key, including by an agent acting on your behalf. Revoke a key from your workspace settings at any time.
Rate limits apply, and we may adjust them, add new tools, or change existing ones as the API develops. We will avoid breaking changes where we reasonably can and will document them where we cannot.
13. Your content and ownership
Your content stays yours. That includes your folder structure, your feed list, your notes, your reading state and anything you send to Spark AI. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transmit and display your content strictly to operate the service for you, and to the extent needed for backups and security. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention described in the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the rights needed for the content you put into SparkFeed and for the sources you subscribe to.
14. Our intellectual property
The SparkFeed source code is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and you may use it accordingly. That licence covers the code, not the brand: the SparkFeed and Sparkable names, logos and visual identity remain ours and are not licensed to you by these terms or by the AGPL. If you run your own instance, please do not present it as the official SparkFeed service.
15. Third-party services
The hosted service runs on infrastructure and services we do not control, including our hosting and database provider, our email provider, our AI model provider and, once paid plans launch, our payment processor. The Privacy Policy names each of them and says what they do. Their own terms may apply to those parts of the service, and we are not responsible for outages or failures within them.
16. Availability, beta and the demo
SparkFeed is a young product. Parts of it are still in beta, features change, and we may add, modify or remove functionality. We aim for the service to be available and reliable, but we do not offer a service level guarantee on any plan other than where we have agreed one in writing with an Enterprise customer.
The public demo instance is a shared sandbox. It has no accounts and no authentication, its data is reset on every deployment, and anything visible in it is visible to everyone. Do not put anything into the demo that you would not publish, and do not rely on it to keep anything.
17. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that a feed will always fetch successfully, that extracted article text will be complete or accurate, or that Spark AI output will be correct. Consumer rights that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you are unaffected.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or anticipated savings, however caused.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, in which case the parts that are not permitted do not apply to you and the rest continue to apply.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sparkable Digital Solutions (OPC) Private Limited and its directors, officers and personnel against claims, damages, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your content, from the sources you point the service at, from your use of anything the service produced, or from your breach of these terms or of applicable law.
20. Suspension and termination
You can stop using SparkFeed at any time and delete your account from your settings. What deletion removes, and how to have the rest erased, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if it is necessary to protect the service, other users or a third party whose site is being harmed. Where circumstances reasonably allow, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give notice through the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
22. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at our registered office have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim there where the law allows it.
