Trend Detection
What is Trend Detection?
Section titled “What is Trend Detection?”Trend Detection analyzes articles across all your feeds and identifies topics that appear repeatedly in a short period of time.
If 10 articles across your feeds mention “Model Context Protocol” in the same week, that’s a signal. It’s becoming important in your niche.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”The detection pipeline will:
- Extract topics from new articles using keyword extraction or NLP
- Track frequency: how often each topic appears across feeds and over time
- Score velocity: topics growing rapidly in mentions score higher
- Surface emerging trends: notify you through a dedicated “Trending” section
The “Trending Now” View
Section titled “The “Trending Now” View”A new section in the sidebar will show your personalized trending topics:
📈 Trending This Week
1. Model Context Protocol ████████ 14 mentions 2. SQLite in production ██████ 11 mentions 3. React Server Components █████ 9 mentions 4. AI agent frameworks ████ 7 mentions 5. Distributed SQLite (Turso) ███ 5 mentionsThese trends are derived only from your own feeds. No external data, no “what’s trending on the internet.”
Why This Matters
Section titled “Why This Matters”Standard RSS reading is chronological. Trend detection adds a topic layer:
- Spot emerging technologies before they’re mainstream
- Identify consensus: when many smart people write about the same thing, pay attention
- Plan your content: trend data tells you what your audience cares about right now
- Reduce FOMO: confidence that you haven’t missed anything important
Personalization
Section titled “Personalization”Because trends are computed from your feeds, they’re uniquely relevant to your interests. A developer following tech blogs will see different trends than a marketer following advertising publications.
